Ghana stands the chance of suffering a serious water crisis if Atewa Forest which provides water to about 5 million Ghanaians is mined for bauxite. Current Illegal mining activities within the forest landscape is affecting water supply to nearby communities. A case in point is the shutdown of the Water Treatment Plant in Kyebi, a community close to the forest.
