Brochure: The Future of Atewa Forest If Mined for Bauxite
This brochure shows the values of Atewa forest reserve; what would be lost if mined for bauxite as well as alternate green options for development, prosperity and wellbeing. The forest reserve is currently under threat for bauxite mining by the government of Ghana. A long standing campaign by stakeholders since 2012 is aiming at getting government to rescind its plans and protect the forest for its water, climate change services and rich biodiversity.

“There is no technology that can mine bauxite without destroying the forest cover. If the forest is mined, fertile agricultural lands for cocoa and food crop production would be affected. Again, the forest’s rich eco-tourism potential and cultural significance would also be lost forever”-Daryl Bosu
