Women Groups Trained in Fisheries Business Management
A total of 50 women within the Muni-Pomadze Ramsar site area have benefited from a training geared towards equipping them with skills and knowledge to manage their local fishery enterprises. 
The women who are locals from Warabeba and Nsuakyir (two communities fringing the Ramsar site) were trained in enhanced fish processing and preservation techniques that minimize post-harvest losses and maximize revenue. This was done is collaboration with the Fisheries Commission of the Winneba Municipality.
Training Objectives
The training also provided the women with information aimed at helping them to:
- Understand entrepreneurship and how to start and develop local related fishery businesses
- Prepare and implement business action plans whiles managing risks
- Understand and apply best business management skills to ensure sustainability and profitability.
- Identify community and business resources that support fish farmers.
Working to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)
The training, supported by the Canadian Fund for Local Initiative (CFLI) in collaboration with the Wildlife Division, is part of an integrated action to build resilience against the impacts of climate change and also support the livelihoods of small women groups within the Muni-Pomadze Ramsar site landscape. The project supports Goal 9, 13 and 14 of the SDGs.
