Thick, Tall Trees —The Book Dedicated To Atewa
“May the appreciation and experience of Nature be their early joy.”
This was the feeling communicated and expressed at the launch of the book entitled ‘Thick, Tall Trees’— a collaborative effort between A Rocha Ghana and Gracie Grace Reads.
The launch which came off on World Environment Day at Carbon AV in Dzorwulu, saw the author of the book, Grace Dorcas Annan give her speech on the importance of inculcating the reading culture amongst children and also how she hoped the book will instil an appreciation of our environment in children at an early age.
A representative from A Rocha Ghana Stephanie Nkansah also gave a speech to those in attendance on the importance of securing the environmental rights of future generations.
‘Thick, Tall Trees’ is the second in the Gracie Grace Reads series and it is dedicated to the magnificent Atewa Forest Reserve.
With colourful illustrations by Emmanuella Odor, the book takes children through an experience of the wonderful and priceless services of forests to a younger audience.

World Environment Day
There was no better way and day to launch this special book than on World Environment Day (WED). WED is marked annually on June 5 to celebrate and appreciate the richness of the earth’s environment alongside raising public awareness and action towards the threats these valuable resources face. It also gives the platform for promoting progressive green solutions towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
This year’s theme for World Environment Day 2021 saw the launch of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration with the hashtag #GenerationRestoration’’ that seeks to restore landscapes all over the world from now till 2030. It also notes that we are the generation that can help restore and make peace with nature.
