Congratulations to Winners of the Earth Day Video Contest

A Rocha Ghana wishes to congratulate all the winners of the Earth Day Video Contest organised in partnership with West Africa Biodiversity and Climate Change  (https://youtu.be/GmeOL5AekHU ), Kali Etch (https://www.kalietch.com) and Ghana Wildlife Division  (http://ghanawildlife.org/).

In all, about 70 videos entries were received for the three categories, showcasing their vision and ideas on Climate Action using, Rap, Poetry and Long Essays. The contestants were very passionate about environmental issues and exhibited great knowledge about climate action through their works.

Contest 1: Junior High School

Students were to submit a 30-second to 1-minute video in which they answer the question: “What environmental problem are you most concerned about and what is the most important thing people can do to address it?” There were 41 entries.

Congratulations to Osbert Mosore, The Flobar School at Adenta, Accra. for winning First Place in the Junior High School Category.

Contest 2: Senior High School

Students were to submit a 1- to 2-minute video featuring them singing a song, reciting a poem, or rapping to educate people about why protecting the earth’s forests and other natural resources are important to help combat climate change. There were 10 entries.

Congratulations to Chibuikem Mbanefo, Tema International School at Tema for winning first place at the Senior High School Category.

Contest 3: Undergraduate Students

Students were to submit a 4- to 6- minute video that demonstrates “3 Ways Ghana Can Become a Leader in Addressing Climate Change.” There were 16 entries.

Congratulations to Reuben Yeboah, Tamale School of Hygiene, Tamale, for winning the First Place in the Undergraduate Category

Best wishes to the other contestants who placed second and third in all various categories. Let us continue to keep up the enthusiasm as we all act for the climate to secure a more resilient world.
