Beacon Int. School Organizes Environmental Awareness Day on Independence Day
Beacon International school as part of activities to commemorate the 63rd Independence Day of Ghana, embarked on tree planting and environmental awareness creation campaign to sensitize their peers and parents on the importance of preserving nature.
The program which was held in partnership with A Rocha Ghana, sought to promote awareness and inspire attitudinal change through educating students and the public on the importance of the preserving Environment. The theme for this year’s event was ‘’My Environment, My Responsibility’’, saw the pupils with their parents and members of staff engaging in environmentally themed activities.
The Director of the school, Samuel Yeboah expressed his commitment to ensure environmental sustainability activities are added to the extra curricula activities of the school and not just on Independence Day. He affirmed his commitment of making Beacon International a “Green School” whiles providing a ‘happy, secure and stimulating environment for the academic and creative development’ of the pupils.

The pupils showcased a play on the effects of Global Warming, and the role of children in providing mitigating solution to climate change. The children also did a presentation on recycling common household waste and items such as plastic bottles, egg crates into organic liquid fertilizers and gardening tools.
Ms. Stephanie Nkansah, a Program Support Officer at A Rocha Ghana, encouraged pupils, parents and staff of Beacon International school to continue in their role as environmental sustainability ambassadors and applauded the school for it’s continuous efforts towards advancing environmental education.
