Women on the Move

Patricia Quayson, A Rocha KNUST President

A Rocha Ghana is particularly excited about this new regime as it is the first time a lady has been elected to hold this prestigious position, boding prospects for a new era.

Women have from time immemorial played crucial role in securing the natural world, by showing resilience leadership in fields including conservation, entrepreneurship, education and health, and they are doing so a all levels— local, national and global.

All over the world, women are at the forefront of promoting the environmental revolution. Whether it be exploring the world’s oceans or protecting the Amazon, fearless women are leading the charge against the status-quo. Notable and among some of the most inspiring women of all time, all fighting for environmental justice are: Wangari MaathaiJane GoodallSylvia EarleRachel CarsonIsatou Ceesay and Gretha Thunberg (the current young climate heroine).

As the world continues to witness the advent of women leaders, the 17 years old jinx of male dominant position of “President” of A Rocha-Knust has been broken and A Rocha Ghana is excited by this and looks to future with greater prospects of more women playing critical roles in saving our environment in Ghana.

We therefore congratulate A Rocha KNUST’s new president and wish her well on her new assignment.
